Tollcross was the place to be on Tuesday night as the 10th annual Christmas tree lights switch on took place.

The event started with a rousing couple of songs from James Gillespies High School pipe band. Children from Tollcross Primary School by sang some carols before two of the children hit the “big red button”and switched on the Christmas Lights.

We were then greatly entertained by JamesGillespies Brass band who played along  to some great Christmas Carols. Thee event was then wrapped up by the Edinburgh Samba Band, making a great joyful rhythm along side some fun dancing.  Everyone then enjoyed a mulled wine (or two) and warm mince pies. The Christmas season has well and truly started in Tollcross.

Tollcross Community Council would like to thank everyone that turned up and made the event special, and to the various local sponsors including Scotmid, Tollcross Community Centre Association, Sainburys, Barclay Viewforth Church, ‘C’ Church – the Church at Central Hall, and Two Thin Laddies Cafe. A special thank you to Andy Devenport for supplying and setting up the P.A system too.
